What to See Inside Casa Batlló
The Noble Floor
The former residence of the Batlló family, this is the main floor of the house. Marvel at the large, undulating windows overlooking Passeig de Gràcia, the oak doors with organic shapes, and the swirling, sea-cave-like ceiling. It's a perfect introduction to Gaudí's nature-inspired vision.
The Lightwell & Attic
Gaudí designed the central lightwell (Patio de Luces) as a functional work of art, covering it in blue tiles that are darker at the top and lighter at the bottom to ensure uniform light distribution. The attic, with its series of catenary arches, resembles the ribcage of a great animal, a simple yet brilliant space that once housed laundry and storage rooms.
The Roof Terrace
The highlight for many, the roof terrace is famously known as the 'Dragon's Back'. The colourful ceramic tiles create a scale-like effect, while the sculptural chimneys are grouped together like fantastical guardians. It offers stunning views of Barcelona and is the symbolic culmination of the legend of Saint George.
